Aluminum is remarkable for its ability to resist corrosion and for the metal's low density. Structural components made from aluminum and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and very important in other areas of transportation and building.
Incodema is very adept at working with aluminum and it is a good general purpose metal for parts fabrication. One key advantage that aluminum parts have is that many parts do not require post plating. If a different finish is required aluminum can be post-plated for color and protective properties.
Incodema’s Notes for working with Aluminum:
• Machining 6061, won’t bend
• 6061 will bend after heat treating, but this process is expensive
• 5052 engineered as bending and forming material
• 3003 is not as hard as 5052
Aluminum is an Incodema preferred material to work with.
