When materials are too thick or hard, not suitable for laser cutting, or not cost effective for wire EDM or other machining processes, Waterjet is the answer.
Waterjet is a CNC machine tool process of cutting metals as well as a wide variety of other materials such as titanium, Inconel, brass, tool steel, glass, stone or ceramics, and composites. By concentrating a narrow column of water and abrasive garnet at up to 60,000 PSI, complex shapes are cut with superior edge quality and minimal burr.
Our Waterjet features a CNC programmed and controlled head which tilts dynamically to eliminate taper in the cut. Thickness capacity ranges from 1/16” to 8” thickness. Depending on the material and type of cut, tolerance of +/-0.001” can be achieved.
Advantages of Waterjet Cutting:
- Can cut materials up to 8” thick
- Low setup cost
- No heat affected zone
- Dynamic head eliminates taper
- Superior edge quality
- Tolerance +/-0.001 to +/-0.005
- Minimal burr
- Minimal secondary finishing required
